STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's E.I. Howell Observatory will be open Tuesday night [April 21] for a special viewing.

The public is welcome for free stargazing, hosted 8-10 p.m.by the university's physics and astronomy department.

The International Space Station is scheduled to fly over around 8:45 p.m., and other heavenly bodies on display should include Jupiter and Venus, as well as various nebula and nearby galaxies.

The observatory is located on the MSU South Farm, also known as the Leveck Animal Research Center. To reach the observatory, starwatchers should take Blackjack Road in Starkville from state Highway 12 to Stone Boulevard, turn south onto Stone Boulevard Extended and follow the signs to the site.

Inclement weather or clouds will cancel the viewing.
