About this event
This concert features the top woodwind, brass and percussion students in the university band program. The performance will showcase both fall concert ensembles and will include the finest new literature available for the wind ensemble, as well as traditional masterpieces from the past. The program will feature works by African American composer Kevin Day and Mississippi resident Julie Giroux. Additionally, a dramatic work originally written in the early 20th century by Gabriel Pares for the French Orchestra de la Garde Republicaine will be included. Of course, both bands will perform an American march, a staple for the wind band repertoire.
