Open enrollment for 2027 benefits begins today [Oct. 1] for MSU employees.

The Mississippi State Human Resources Management Benefits Department is pleased to announce Open Enrollment for 2027 benefits will take place today through Oct. 31. Any benefit elections or changes made during Open Enrollment will become effective Jan. 1, 2027.

MSU designated ‘Distinguished Military College’ by Sec. Hegseth as War Dept. unveils six major changes in operating, training policies

Mississippi State University is one of five universities designated as a new “Distinguished Military College” by order of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The announcement came during Secretary Hegseth’s speech today, Sept. 30, to active-duty tactical-level and noncommissioned officers at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. Hegseth said the new designation expands America’s Corps of Cadets, a War Department program established to expand the pipeline of “patriotic leaders of character” commissioned into the Joint Force.

MSU announces road, access updates as ‘SEC Nation’ spotlights Bulldog battle with Bama

“SEC Nation Presented by Regions Bank” is returning to Mississippi State this Saturday [Oct. 3] when the SEC Network live broadcast visits the Junction, 8-11 a.m. CT, just before the No. 16 Bulldogs meet No. 7 Alabama in Davis Wade Stadium.

MSU’s Evans appointed interim director of Geosystems Research Institute; Cartwright named interim associate director

Mississippi State researcher and educator Kristine Evans has been appointed interim director of the university’s Geosystems Research Institute. Additionally, John Cartwright, who serves as institute associate Extension professor and director of the Geospatial Education and Outreach Project, is joining the GRI’s senior leadership as interim associate director.
