The 2024 G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Lecture Series will feature this year’s Montgomery Fellow, David Kieran, the Col. Richard R. Hallock Distinguished University Chair of Military History at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. His lecture, “‘The Full Support of the Army Will Be Critical’: Sonny Montgomery, the Army, and the Fate of the GI Bill” will discuss how the Army worked with Congress to pass the landmark expansion of the G.I. Bill championed by MSU alumnus, the late Congressman Sonny Montgomery. A light reception will follow.
