About this event
Endearing. Enchanting. Effervescent. From the back porch to center stage, Southern comedians and storytellers Landon Bryant and Mary Ryan Brown are bringing their signature perspective and banter to a city near you. Southern Nights is a traveling roadshow delight that celebrates the glamor, excess and contradictions of life in the Deep South. Featuring two clean, riveting headlining sets and an interactive Q&A, Southern Nights creates an up-close-and-personal, yet larger-than-life, night out for audiences of all ages.
Landon Bryant is a comedian, author and Southern storyteller from Laurel. He wrote "Bless Your Heart: A Field Guide to All Things Southern" and "'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Y'all" (Running Press), with "How to Speak Southern" coming April. He writes the Let's Ask Landon column in Good Grit, made his Grand Ole Opry debut in April and his work has been featured in The New York Times, Atlantic, Wall Street Journal, Southern Living, Garden & Gun and "The Kelly Clarkson Show." About a million people follow him as @LandonTalks across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
Mary Ryan Brown is a writer and performer whose Southern and literary roots have made her a distinct, versatile player in today’s entertainment landscape. From the pageantry of the garden club to the performance art of everyday domestic life, Mary Ryan both celebrates and mocks the cultural carnival of the South through her caricatures of Southern women. In her “Weird Daughters” series, she honors the Taffeta Chiffons of the world—that is, girls who would rather be weird than boring—and the mothers who love and raise them. A weird daughter herself, Mary Ryan takes great joy in singing the praises of the outliers, the deviants, and the squeaky wheels who make life colorful. Mary Ryan has amassed a total following of over 350,000, sold out at clubs and venues across the country, shot a Dry Bar comedy special, acted in a Southern Living limited series and opened for nationally acclaimed comedians like Ryan Hamilton, Heather McMahan and more.
