STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University is announcing dates for its 2016 ACT preparation workshops.

Taking place Jan. 9 and March 5, both sessions begin at 8 a.m. in the College of Education’s Learning Center, 246 Allen Hall. Admission cost for each session is $75.

University enrollment is not a requirement to participate.

Designed for students who have yet to participate in the assessment of academic readiness for higher education, the workshops are designed to:

—Provide both extra practice in test taking and a better understanding of what is being tested;

—Review test-taking strategies and types of portable calculators that are permitted;

—Increase understanding of grammar rules and sentence structure; and

—Help strengthen rhetorical skills.

Interim director Clay Armstrong said he and others at The Learning Center are “honored to continue hosting the ACT workshops each year,” adding that past participants have reported positive results from the workshop training.

Due five days prior to each workshop, the admission fee may be paid in cash or by checks made payable to The Learning Center.
