Titled “Little Red Riding Hood: Sexual Abuse Cloaked by a Teaching License,” her investigation of steps school administrators must take to combat sexual predators was cited for “excellence in scholarship.”

Last year, Farmer received SRCEA’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Scholarship Award for a study of student discipline policies around the world. She also began a four-year term on the organization’s board of directors.

Mississippi University for Women’s educational leadership director before coming to MSU last year, Farmer is a doctoral graduate of Oakland City (Indiana) University.

Held at Kennesaw (Georgia) State University, the organization’s 56th annual conference also included the presentations of research papers by three other MSU education faculty members, professor Jack Blendinger, assistant clinical professor Leigh Ann Hailey, and Donna Shea, director of the college’s Office of Clinical/Field-Based Instruction and Licensure.

Their reports ranged from developing principal excellence in managing schools to the impact that ecological conservation schools have on student achievement.
