STARKVILLE, Miss.—The Dunn-Seiler Museum at Mississippi State University will host a Fossil Extravaganza in celebration of National Fossil Day.
To be held Wednesday [Oct. 12], from 5:30-7 p.m. in Room 112 of Hilbun Hall on 355 Lee Blvd., the event is free to all and will include tours of the museum, as well as refreshments. Winners of the 2016 K-12 Fossil art and story contest will be on display.
This year, the museum has a replica of a jaw bone from an extinct North American lion, first discovered in Mississippi.
The Dunn-Seiler Museum is home to mineral and rock collections, as well as fossil displays from throughout the Southeast.
