“Our whole world changed in the spring of 2020, and you found a way to adapt, persevere and endure. You handled every single curve ball that was thrown your way, and I commend you for that,” MSU President Mark E. Keenum told the graduates during Starkville commencement ceremonies in Humphrey Coliseum.

Keenum, a Corinth native who holds three degrees in agricultural economics from MSU, said the experience of navigating a global pandemic has graduates poised for successful futures.

“Whether you go on to continue your education or begin a brand new career, you are prepared for that next step in your life. Make a difference and be a positive change agent. Always be honest and truthful, do something to the best of your ability and be kind and considerate to everyone, all of the time,” Keenum emphasized.

“With those values and your great education from Mississippi State, I promise you will stand out,” said the former Under Secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. “You will be sought after, and you will have people opening doors of opportunity for you that you could never imagine. Never doubt yourself—you can achieve anything.”
