MSU to recognize International Education Week with fun events

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State will recognize International Education Week Nov. 14-18, honoring international students and their cultures. Several events are scheduled by university organizations such as the Division of Access, Diversity and Inclusion, the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center and the International Institute.

Monday [Nov. 14], 3-6 p.m., “Picture the World: IE Week and Gallery Opening,” Union Art Gallery, second floor, Colvard Student Union. The HCDC will showcase international photographs taken by students and exhibited through Dec. 8. Refreshments will be provided.

Tuesday [Nov. 15], 11 a.m.-1 p.m., “Global Minds to Local Hearts: MSU’s International Volunteer Day 2022,” Moseley Hall roundabout. Students can sign up to volunteer alongside community members and leaders in support of the work done by local and global organizations.

Wednesday [Nov. 16], 6 p.m., “Global Night,” Foster Ballroom, Colvard Student Union. A showcase of diverse student cultures through food, music and dancing will be hosted by the International Student Advisory Board.

Thursday [Nov. 17], 4 p.m., “Study Abroad Photo Contest Reception,” Old Main Academic Center Room 2030. The International Institute will host a reception announcing the winners of the annual photo contest from summer 2021-2022 study abroad trips.

Thursday [Nov. 17], 5:30-6:30 p.m., “Exploring the World Through Language and Culture,” Old Main Academic Center Room 2220. The Institute for the Humanities and HCDC will hold a panel discussion with faculty members about the value of new language learning while studying different cultures and literature.

Friday [Nov. 18], 4-6 p.m., “Global Kitchen,” Moore Hall. A cooking workshop will teach students how to make dishes from other cultures. Cooking ingredients and refreshments will be provided.
