The Express Yourself! Art Auction takes place April 20, 10 a.m.-noon at the center on 326 Hardy Road. The event will include a silent auction, brunch hors d’oeuvres and original art and merchandise for purchase.

Kendrell Daniels, a senior art major supported by the center, will demonstrate how he paints with his feet during the event and display pieces for sale. Other participants in the art program also will have pieces available for purchase, such as greeting cards, prints, paintings and ceramics.

The auction is the primary fundraiser for the Express Yourself! program, which provides individuals with disabilities inclusive art opportunities. Offerings include a weekly program for children, individual lessons and art rehabilitation.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the diversity and creativity of our artists at our third annual art show,” said Kasee K. Stratton-Gadke, executive director of the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities, which houses the T.K. Martin Center. “Community engagement in this event empowers our artists and expands the inclusive offerings of Express Yourself!”
