Dear Mississippi State Family,
The IHL Board of Trustees voted today [June 20] to allow universities to close on Friday, July 5 in addition to Thursday, July 4 for the upcoming Independence Day holiday. Their approval is in accordance with IHL Policy 805.08 Official Holidays and the governor’s recent proclamation authorizing state agencies to close their offices for these two days.
With this approval, MSU offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5. In addition to significant energy savings, this will give our faculty, staff, and students an extended holiday weekend to enjoy. Established policies and procedures related to work on a holiday, if required, will apply.
I hope this break will give you opportunities for rest and recreation as well as time for reflection on the significance of this national holiday. My family and I wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday weekend.
