Aundrea Self, whose 26-year career at the Columbus-based WCBI-TV included stints as a reporter, anchor, producer and host, is the college’s new director of outreach and engagement beginning Jan. 2. In her new role, Self will spearhead outreach initiatives and identify clients for the Master of Business Administration program, while also leading the college’s alumni engagement efforts.

“We are thrilled to welcome Aundrea to the College of Business team,” said Scott Grawe, College of Business dean. “Her skills and experience will help us continue to spotlight our research and expertise throughout the business community and identify new opportunities to support lifelong learning throughout Mississippi and the nation.”

Self, a Starkville native, has earned several Associated Press awards throughout her career in journalism. Currently, the “MidMorning with Aundrea” host anchors WCBI’s two afternoon news broadcasts. She previously spent seven years co-anchoring “WCBI News at Sunrise” and “Midday” for the station, which she joined in 1998. She also has served as an adjunct instructor in MSU’s Department of Communication.

“Becoming a Bulldog was my destiny. I grew up in Starkville; I married an MSU graduate; I became an adjunct instructor, so this new role makes me an official cowbell-ringing member of the family,” she said. “Leaving what I’ve known and loved for the past 26 years is difficult, but I’m excited about working in the College of Business and the opportunities it gives me to grow, expand and use my talents in other ways.”

Self is a Starkville High School graduate who earned undergraduate degrees in English and mass communication from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Alabama. Before joining WCBI, Self worked in broadcasting a combined seven years at Columbus’ WACR-FM and Cumulus Broadcasting.
