MSU requires information security training for employees
Mississippi State Chief Information Security Officer Tom Ritter is reminding employees that Information Security Training is an annual requirement at the university. MSU had a completion percentage of 87% after the fall 90-day campaign and is extending the completion deadline until February 28, 2025.
Failure to complete this required training will result in a suspension of MSU access.
Once an individual’s account has been suspended, the user will not be able to login to any MSU Central Authentication Service (CAS authenticated systems, including myState, Canvas, Banner, and other systems) until they complete the training.
Once completed, an automatic process runs hourly to restore access.
The “PWRISTL” Banner report can provide units with a current list of who has completed training for an ORG. Any Banner user who can key time for an ORG is able to run this report for their ORG. The data is updated hourly.
Each unit’s cooperation in ensuring users complete training is crucial and highly appreciated. Security measures may require extra effort, but individual safety and the protection of university data remain top priorities.
