Department of Music at MSU announces lineup of spring events, audition dates

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Department of Music is hosting a variety of concerts this spring, showcasing the talents of its students, faculty and guest artists.

Select events are ticketed to provide much-needed resources for creative programming, guest artist honorariums, technical and academic support services, and sheet music. For box office information for each event, visit www.music.msstate.edu/events.

The spring lineup includes:

—Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m., Piano Faculty Recital, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—Feb. 27, 7:30 p.m., World Music featuring Benjamin Hunter, Recital Hall, Music Building, ticketed

—March 31, 7:30 p.m., Flute Choir and Chamber Ensembles Concert, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—April 5, 1 p.m., Double Reed Day featuring Double Reed Studios, Kent Sills Band Hall and Music Building, free

—April 6, 4 p.m., Violin Studio, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—April 8, 7:30 p.m., Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Quartet and Saxophone Ensemble Concert, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—April 15, 7:30 p.m., Faculty Piano Trio Recital featuring Serena Scibelli (violin), Amy Catron (cello) and Sophie Wang (piano), Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—April 22 and 24, 7:30 p.m., “Operatic Fusion” Opera, Recital Hall, Music Building, ticketed

—April 26, 10 a.m., Honors Piano Recital featuring Kowoon Lee, the Community Music School and Golden Triangle Music Forum, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

High school seniors and community college transfer students interested in majoring in music or participating in an MSU ensemble as a non-music major may audition Feb. 22, March 14-15 and April 4.
