STARKVILLE, Miss.—Exceptional faculty and staff are being honored at Mississippi State with annual awards for outstanding teaching, mentoring and advising.
“The quality of the people at the heart of Mississippi State sets our university apart,” said Jeff Davis, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. “Our core missions of learning, service and research come about through the work of the women and men who dedicate their lives to these jobs. They’re passionate about what they do, they’re passionate about doing it well, and that passion shines through. It’s really a privilege to be part of honoring their work.”
This year’s honorees include:
Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor Award
—Ryan Folk, assistant professor, Department of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences.
Alumni Association Graduate and Professional Teaching Excellence Award
—Will Davis, assistant professor, Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Donald Zacharias Early Career Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award
—Jenna Johnson, assistant teaching professor for MSU Engineering on the Coast, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Bagley College of Engineering.
Online Teaching Excellence Award
—Emily Marett, instructor II, Department of Management and Information Systems, College of Business.
Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Award Staff Recipient
—Amy McMinn, academic advisor for the College of Education and student services coordinator, Student Affairs, MSU-Meridian.
Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Award Faculty Recipient
—Aswathy Rai, associate teaching professor and undergraduate coordinator, Department of Biochemistry, Nutrition and Health Promotion, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Wesley A. Ammon Outstanding New Staff Advisor Award
—Shannon Bacot, lead academic advisor in the College of Architecture, Art and Design, Center for Advising.
