STARKVILLE, Miss.—Bully’s Pantry at Mississippi State is taking the Egg Bowl rivalry beyond the football field this November, competing against the University of Mississippi’s Grove Grocery to support students facing food insecurity.
The Egg Bowl Food Fight runs Nov. 1-20, challenging the two universities to see which campus food pantry can collect the most donations. Each food or personal care item donated, and every dollar contributed, counts as 1 point toward MSU’s total. MSU students can also donate block meals, with each donated meal counting as 1 point.
Bully’s Pantry provides free food, school supplies and personal care items to MSU students, helping ensure basic needs do not become barriers to their academic success.
Campus and community members who want to help MSU win the competition can donate needed food and personal care items, including meals in a can, single-serving meals, canned protein, peanut or other seed butters, canned foods with pop-top lids, cereal, rice, pasta, granola bars and frozen foods; plus toothpaste, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, paper products and laundry detergent pods.
Donations can be dropped off at Bully’s Pantry, 120 Morgan Ave., Monday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. Those who need to arrange a different drop-off time may email Bully’s Pantry or call 662-325-7683.
Supporters also can purchase items from the Bully’s Pantry Amazon Wish List and have them shipped directly to the pantry. Monetary gifts can be made online through the university’s Bulldog Boost crowdfunding platform.
