Recently posting its 2027 Best Colleges in America list, Niche has named MSU the No. 1 College in Mississippi and the No. 12 overall Best College Campus in America.

The online platform didn’t stop its recognitions of MSU there. The land-grant institution also rates No. 1 in the state as the Top Public, Best Research, Best Professors and Best College Dorms university.

Niche draws data for its rankings from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. The ranking system prioritizes direct reviews from students on each school’s academics, diversity, athletics, value and campus life.

Naron Remillard, MSU’s director of student recruitment and marketing, said of the acknowledgements from one of the top college resource sites, “We’re proud that Niche has named Mississippi State among the nation’s best college campuses. This recognition belongs to our students, faculty and staff, whose commitment to the Bulldog family makes our university a great place to learn, live and have fun. We can’t wait for prospective students and their families to visit campus and see why we are one of the best campuses in the country.”

A part of the city of Starkville, USA Today’s 2027 “Best Small Town in the South,” MSU is recognized for its close-knit environment paired with resources and opportunities that the welcoming faculty and staff make available. The university stands out among others for its robust undergraduate research programs, internships and cooperative education, study abroad experiences and innovative facilities, many built just in the past few years.

One MSU junior who responded to the Niche survey, said, “Mississippi State has become the best home. As soon as I stepped on campus, I was welcomed and it was obvious that everyone wanted me to succeed in every aspect.”

Another student respondent said, “In my experience at Mississippi State, I’ve noticed myself growing and learning so much since I’ve been here. Everyone is so inviting and the campus life is a very positive environment to be in.”
