The legacy of Mississippi State’s first African American student, Dr. Richard E. Holmes, now is marked permanently on the campus of the 148-year-old land-grant institution.

Mississippi State leaders cut the ribbon three times Tuesday [Aug. 11] to celebrate a variety of university improvements, from an updated McArthur Café to the newly opened traffic circle to a mechanical plant designed to support campus growth.
