STARKVILLE, Miss.—In its 52nd season, Mississippi State’s theatre program will present a translation of Euripides’ Ancient Greek masterpiece “The Trojan Women” on McComas Hall’s mainstage.
Theatre MSU’s students and production team invite all community members to attend performances taking place Wednesday-Friday [Nov. 11-13] at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday [Nov. 15] at 2:30 p.m.
General admission tickets, which may be purchased at the door or online at www.comm.msstate.edu/theatre/tickets, are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under.
Set just after the fall of Troy, “The Trojan Women” is a story of female strength and war. The students will be performing Diane Arnson Svarlien’s new translation.
“The women of the play are struggling to cope and find reason in war-time chaos,” said Cody Stockstill, director and assistant professor.
“Euripides asks some really tough questions and doesn’t necessarily answer them. That’s where the brilliance of this piece emerges—it asks the audience to form their own opinions about what they are witnessing,” Stockstill added.
