MSU plagiarism detection software changes to Turnitin Similarity

MSU plagiarism detection software changes to Turnitin Similarity

Effective Aug. 8, Turnitin Similarity will be Mississippi State’s product for academic integrity. At this time Turnitin will be the only option in Canvas. As previously announced, Ouriginal, MSU’s current academic integrity tool, was acquired by Turnitin.

Turnitin Similarity helps safeguard institutional reputation and intellectual property by protecting against copy/paste plagiarism, student collusion, and research misconduct through a scalable workflow integrated within Canvas. Faculty will have access to their Ouriginal reports until the end of the year.

All faculty are strongly encouraged to verify plagiarism settings on all Canvas assignments prior to student submissions.

A live asynchronous webinar conducted by Turnitin will be offered on Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. Registration is currently available at https://www.its.msstate.edu/support/training/workshops.

More information about Turnitin, including video resources, may be found at https://servicedesk.msstate.edu/TDClient/45/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=1886.
