MSU hosts blues legend Jesse Robinson for free concert Thursday

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi blues legend Jesse Robinson will give a free concert Thursday [Sept. 3] on Mississippi State’s campus.
Hosted by MSU’s Department of Music, “Echoes from the Delta” takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of MSU’s Music Building, 124 Hardy Rd. Robinson is joined by The Hip Waders Band for an evening of blues, jazz and soul music.
Known as “the Mayor of Jackson’s Blues Scene,” Robinson has been a fixture in the state’s music landscape since the 1960s and was the winner of the 2026 Governor’s Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement. Through his decades-long career as a performing artist, educator and community ambassador, he has enriched the state’s cultural landscape and inspired generations to embrace the power and soul of the blues. His mastery of the guitar places him among the finest blues musicians in the world.
